Despite being without superstar forward LeBron james and center Shaquille O’neal, the Cleveland Cavaliers record their 50th win this season Monday night, the 8th of March, at the Quicken Loans arena in Cleveland.

The Cavaliers won against the San Antonio Spurs, who were without star point guard Tony Parker who could be out for 6 weeks due to a broken bone in his hand. Cleveland lost forward Antawn Jamison on the 8:05 mark of the 3rd quarter as his knee stiffened up and was unable to return to the game. 6 Cavaliers scored double figures, gurad Mo Willams and Jamison recorded 17 points apiece, followed by Delonte West with 16, Jawad Willams with 13, J.J Hickson with 12 and Anderson Varejao with 11. Manu Ginobili led the Spurs with 38 points 7 rebounds and 5 assists, who almost spoiled the Cavs’ night when he burried what seemed to be a 3-point shot with 14 seconds left to play. After further review however, the shot was ruled as a 2-pointer as Ginobili’s toe was on the 3-point line. With the shot ruled as a 2-pointer, the Spus found themselves trailing 93-92 and were forced to foul Mo willams who made the two awarded foul shots. with 2.7 seconds left in the game, Roger Mason missed a 3-pointer that would have tied the ball game and the Spurs fouled Varejao to stop the clock. Varejao made both free throws which made Ginobili’s 3-point buzzer beater irrelevant. Cavs; coach Mike Brown was pleased at the effort his team displayed, playing without three of their main guys.

Antawn Jamison, despite leaving the game in the 2nd quarter, expects to play in Cleveland’s next game.

The Cavaliers are the first team to record 50 wins  and remains the number 1 team in the NBA this season.
