The life of today is a huge contrast from the olden times. Everything is fast forward, fast paced and fast food. For example, you have instant coffee, internet dating, video conferencing, microwave dinners, e-ticketing, ATMs, virtual universities and so on.
I guess all these innovative ideas are there to make life easier for mankind, but I don’t think its working! On the contrary, people are running out of time more.
No one has time to sit and talk, to meet old parents, take the kids to the park, go fishing on a Sunday, welcoming the new neighbors, keeping in touch with old pals and basically all the things which used to be a norm a few decades ago.
The dilemma is that why are we out of time when life has become more convenient and user friendly???
Is it because there is a paradigm shift and our focus is now on those things which are primarily not important? Is it because there are more choices in the market, more options for business, more destinations for holidays, more brands to select from, more events to attend and more decisions to make?
If we had kept life simple, stuck to the course of nature, kept our priorities straight, then probably our generation would not be so anxiety prone and frustrated as it is today. Even with so many opportunities, more people commit suicide than before, more people get divorced than before and most importantly, more people fall sick than before.
Everyday new diseases and ailments come to our knowledge, Cancer is a parasite that has licked every home, half the world still suffers from Hepatitis and AIDS and Malaria has still not been eradicated from the face of this Earth.
If you take a closer look, you will see that people who still chose to live in the suburbs or villages, who are early risers, who prefer to walk than catch the bus, who have vegetables patches at home and who have loving, faithful pets, tend to live longer, healthier and happier.
They worry less, sleep peacefully, laugh more and live fuller! Compared to the rest of us, they are the one who are actually living. As for the rest, life is just passing us by….
