After two years of absence, a shark once again wreak havoc at a beach in California when a 19-year-old surfer was reportedly killed by a 20 foot shark Friday.
According to the report, the victim identified as Lucas McKaine Ransom was swimming at Surf Beach at Vandenberg Air Force Base (VAFB) near Santa Barbara, California when he was suddenly attacked by the shark.
The shark pulled him underwater and bite his left leg that caused a huge wounds that resulted to his immediate death due to massive blood lost.
A friend of Ransom who accompanied him in the swimming activity was shock with the incident but escaped unharmed after the attack.
Beach officials immediately cordoned the area and closed all beaches within the area for 72 hours.
Placards had also been placed in beaches to warn beach-goers of a possible shark attack.
It was learned that the last death of this kind involved a great white shark in California in 2008, when a 66-year-old man was attacked as he swam with friends off a beach in San Diego.
