Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is most common form of dementia. An incurable, degenerative and terminal disease. Also called as Alzheimer disease, Senile Dementia of the Alzheimer Type (SDAT) or simply Alzheimer’s. This disease is common to people over 65 years old. Alzheimer’s disease is mistakenly thought to be age-related problem or disease. It is said to hit 26.6 million of people who suffered from this disease on 2006. The most common symptom of Alzheimer’s disease is memory loss which is the difficulty of remembering things, people and earliest facts. As the disease progresses or worsen, symptoms will severely include confusion, mood swings, long-term memory loss, irritability and aggression and language breakdown. Symptoms also include difficulty performing familiar tasks, disorientation to time and place, poor or decreased judgement, problems with abstract thinking, misplacing things, changes in personality and loss of initiative. Alzheimer’s disease progression is caused by plaques and tangles in the brain causing the severity of the disease. The disease will worsen and progresses fast and will also cause brain-damage. Other possible causes of Alzheimer’s disease are side effects of medications, illnesses such as strokes, mild stokes or cerebrovascular disease, depression, fatigue, grief, thyroid gland problems, vision or hearing loss, alcohol use and chronic stress. People who have Alzheimer’s disease are diagnosed through stages and phases, to mild, moderate and severe. There are some ways to prevent Alzheimer’s disease and is said to be effective. Since its symptom is memory loss, people who prefer to engage in intellectual activities and routines everyday, specially those older ones, has less chances to have this disease. Reading, playing board games such as chess, answering crossword puzzles, playing musical instruments can reduce the risk of having Alzheimer’s disease. Physical activity can also help reduce risk of acquiring this disease. Lots of factors may cause you to a higher risk of Alzheimer’s. Smoking is the most factor of having Alzheimer’s, environmental factors such as exposure to solvents is also one of these factors. According to researches there is still no cure for this disease and . Treatment and any other ways or options are instead given to people who suffer from this disease. Non-drug treatment options are given to sufferers.
