Defending champion Inter Milan joined Palermo in the Italian Cup final following their 1-1 draw against Roma on Wednesday at San Siro Stadium.
This victory was a double celebration for Inter as captain Javier Zanetti played his 1,000th match as a professional.
And the cup is the last of three trophies Inter won last season that it still has a chance to retain.
Inter’s top scorer Samuel Eto’o scored the opening goal on 58 minutes to take his tally for the season in all competitions to 34.
Marco Borriello then equalised for Roma on 84 minutes. But it was too little too late for them as Inter Milan clinched a 2-1 aggregate victory.
Earlier on Tuesday Palermo got a 2-1 win against AC Milan and Inter Milan will face them in the Italian Cup final on May 29.
