Different car manufacturers among the most important in the world are offering to the customers different models of plug-in electric vehicles, which can be divided in two main different types: Plug-in hybrid vehicles (PHV), which are powered both by batteries and by an internal combustion engine, and pure electric plug-in vehicles (PEV), powered only by the batteries, which supply energy to the electric motor/motors. Each of them has its own advantages and weak points, PEVs have the advantage of being totally zero emissions vehicles, meanwhile PHVs work in zero emissions mode only in the first 40 km of travel, after which the fossil fuel engine enters in function and the emissions are unavoidable. The Ford predictions say that for the next decade 70% of company’s growth will come from Asia-Pacific and Africa. The most important part of this will be in China, where in the current year 500,000 Ford cars have been sold, with an increasing tendency. As a result the number of dealerships has already risen from the planned 310 to 340 dealers. The thirty dealers added are part of the Ford’s plan to add 100 new dealerships in areas with high new car demand, i.e. in smaller cities and inland provinces throughout China, in this period of economic boom spreading from east coast to the interior.
