English midfielder Frank Lampard’s brace gave Chelsea a comfortable 3-1 victory over Blackpool on Monday night and also helped them to back in English Premier League title race at Bloomfield Road.
Unbeaten leaders Manchester United remain unbeaten in the Premier League this season. Dimitar Berbatov brace helped them to beat Blackpool 3-2 at Bloomfield Road on Tuesday night.
The FA confirmed Monday that Blackpool coach Ian Holloway has been given a one-match touchline ban and also fined 9,500 pounds for his part in a bust-up with referee Mike Dean during his team’s 2-1 defeat by Blackburn last month.
Holloway, 47, admitted a charge of improper conduct following his bad language and behavior towards officials for allowing Brett Emerton’s injury-time winner which he believed was off-side.
After the match Holloway said, “I thought the referee had a poor game and he is going to report me for what I said to him in the tunnel. I can’t believe what he saw. I thought there were some unbelievably strange decisions out there. I waited for him in the tunnel. Never mind, I have got to learn and I should know better – but it is ridiculous.”
However, this ban will let Holloway out of this weekend’s visit of Manchester City.
