The country music legend for his smash hit about a working hero, “Big Bad John” died at 81.
Jimmy Dean who is also an entrepreneur and is known for his sausage brand died on Sunday at their home in Henrico County Virginia according to his wife Donna Meade Dean.
The wife said that her husband had some health problems but was functioning well and that’s why his death came as a shock.
Donna Meade Dean also said that Jimmy was eating in front of the television ans she left the room for a time and when she came back in, her husband was already unresponsive. The singer and businessman was pronounced dead at 7:54 pm.
Jimmy Dean was born in 1928. He was raised in poverty in Plainview, Texas. He dropped out of high school after the ninth grade. He grew up in a musical househould. His mother showed him how to play the piano. His father was a songwriter and singer. His father left their family. Dean taught himself how to play the accordion and the harmonica.
Dean went into business, particularly a sausage business in the year 1969. He started the business in his hometown. He named his business Jimmy Dean Meat Co. In 1984, he sold the meat company to Sara Lee Corp. He opened a plant in Plainview and just after six months, the company was profitable. In the early 90′s, his fortune was estimated at $75 million.
Jimmy Dean also made his name successful in line of music and entertainment. He went to a successful entertainment career in the 1950s and 1960s. This includes the nationally televised “The Jimmy Dean Show.”
He started in the music business as an accordionist at a tavern near Bolling Air Force in Washington D.C. His band had its first national hit in “Bummin’ Around.” by early 1950s.
He became a big hit in 1961 and he won a Grammy. He was elected to the Country Music Hall of Fame in February. He also became a headliner at venues like Carnegio Hall and the Hollywood Bowl and became the first country to play on the Las Vegas strip.
He also had a string of television shows which includes “The Jimmy Dean Show.”

According to Forbes magazine the numbers of billionaires had gone up and increased to 1,011 this year than last year which has 793 in the list.

Carlos Slim Helu is a very influential man in Mexico and in Latin America in telecommunication industry. Records shown that on March 29, 2007, Carlos Slim surpassed the second richest person in the world which is Warren Buffett who has 52.4 billion US dollars and at that time Carlos Slim has 53.1 billion US dollars. On August 8,2007 according to Fortune magazine, Slim had overtaken the world’s richest man who is Bill Gates that has an estimated 58 billion US dollars. At that moment Carlos Slim Helu’s fortune had gone up to 59 billion US dollars. On March 5, 2008 Carlos Slim ranked second of the world’s richest person. First of that list is Warren Buffett, then Carlos Slim and third was Bill Gates. On March 11, 2009 Forbes published that Carlos Slim is the third richest person in the world and is behind Bill Gates and Warren Buffett and he is ahead of Lawrence Ellison. Just recently, on March 10, 2010 it is published again that Carlos Slim Helu is the world’s richest man in the world surpassing Bill Gates with an estimated net of about 53.5 billion US dollars.
From 1996 to 1998 Carlos Slim Helu has been the vice-president of Mexican Stock exchange and president of the mexican association of brokerage houses. He is one of the biggest investors of France Telecom and Southwestern Bell Corporation.
