We are all witnesses of a large advertizing campaign taking place almost daily in mass media in favor of a larger use of electric vehicles (EV), as the solution for a green mobility, environmentally-friendly car manufacturing and reduction of western countries dependency from the import of fossil fuel. The American Federal Government is also subsidizing with large sums of money the increase of electric vehicles manufacturing capacities, the building of the supporting charging infrastructure in different regions of United States (the number of these regions has had a significant increase quite recently), and in research and development of EV batteries, as the most important element that determines their driving range.

California is in the vanguard of American states for the support of a wider use of environmentally-friendly vehicles, not only the electric and hybrid ones, but also of the hydrogen fueled vehicles, which are characterized by zero harming emissions, having only water vapor and heat as emissions. The hydrogen fueling station network is a must for having a larger number of such vehicles in the roads, and last week a new Shell hydrogen station was opened in Torrance, Southern California.
The new station, situated in a strategic place near highway corridors and Los Angeles airport, takes hydrogen from an existing industrial pipeline which serves a nearby refinery. Continue Reading
