Jaguar C-X75 in Los Angeles Auto Show

2

Category : Technology

The beautiful Jaguar’s new C-X75 supercar is now being shown for the first time in North America in LA Auto Show from 19th to 28th November, after its huge success in Europe, in Paris motor show some few weeks before. The brand continues to keep its definitely English character and flavor in the actual era of its Indian Tata owners and keeps its tradition of producing beautiful and fast cars, powered by sustainable means.

The car is a plug-in hybrid with a very large driving range, with a fuel cap on one side and a battery charger on the other. It will be propelled by four electric motors, one for each wheel, that take energy from the batteries, charged by small eight-inch turbines running on diesel fuel, a combination that has not been so successful till now in other concept cars of other brands, but Jaguar’s engineers are convinced to the success of this ground-breaking propulsion system.

The lack of a piston engine gives to the designers plenty of room in placing the mechanical components and to create an elegant engineering package. The four-wheel drive supercar has a maximum speed of 205 mph, it can run in a range of 68 miles in pure electric mode with zero emissions after six hours of plug-in charge at home. The micro gas-turbines are innovative, lightweight propellers capable for a quick recharge of the Lithium-ion batteries, thus making possible an extraordinary driving range of up to 560 miles.

The car has all advantages of a four-wheel drive, such as improved traction, grip and safety, without the weight disadvantage of the pure mechanical set-up, thanks to the presence of an electric motor for each wheel. This kind of power-train makes it possible to adjust individually and independently the value of torque in each wheel in the entire speed range, offering great benefits for the driving stability and control. Other outstanding car’s feature is its active aerodynamics with an elegant fuselage remaining stable at high speed. Jaguar C-X75 is a cool and surprising car concept that should be ready to enter production within few years.
